many of you might have already known, that i strive to have my jewelry served as that little reminder of how beautiful each and every one of us is. and to make something that could work the specific magic, the maker— me, have to have the right energy. i’m fortunate to have a more-than-my-math-skill-can-handle amount of incredible friends and family members, who wholeheartedly love and support me in every possible way. among them all, i’m extremely thankful to have met my wonderful and perhaps a little crazy best boyfriend ever— Mr Randy Kono had planned for over a month, to give me this big surprise 30th birthday party this Saturday night. my birthday was actually yesterday, which added to the surprise element.
the story goes like this, one of my besties Charlene treated me to a massage up in a very nice spa in Glendale. and for all i knew, i was supposed to head back home and meet up with Randy, and go to some music event that evening. so after getting to a maximum state of chillaxation, Charlene and i stopped by some thrift store and shopped a little and hopped back into the car. well, and now i understand why Charlene was so sure that we had time for that. that should have been suspicious. but i must have been too relaxed everything seemed slow and blurry.
after shopping, as usual, i got hungry. so i made a call and checked with Randy to make sure if we had enough time to grab a bite before heading to the “show”. hint #2 that i should have noticed but somehow did not, was that when i asked him if he wanted to just come and meet us at the restaurant, he insisted that we should just meet at home and carpool. not like the usual whatever’s-cool, easygoing him.
so when i stepped into the door thinking that i gotta fix my smashed-up eyelashes and find a pic-ready sexy outfit and change in the speed of light, i heard a comically loud “SURPRISE!!!!!!!!” and found about 30 some pairs of smiling eyes staring at me.
“oooohhhh……i guess THIS is the ‘show’……” i mumbled, since the giant smile i had kinda got in the way i could barely speak well. the whole place was filled with my loved ones, food and drinks, 30 rock decorations, and haha embarrassingly, blow-up photos of me.
and the rest is history…
thank you once again for all who’ve been part of injecting the cloud 9 potion into my blood. with this kinda vibe inside of me, i’m charged, thrilled, pumped and off the ground. i promise that my art will work its magic. my head in peace, my hands at ease, i’m gonna continue to cast a love spell onto each piece i make. well, with the occasional darker pieces of course, cos without darkness, light just don’t see as bright.
now here are some highlights of the night. and did i mention that the cake was the size of my freaking pillow?
